Whistling Woods International supports the 806th show ofthe play ‘Yugpurush– Mahatma’s Mahatma’

 

The historical and dramaticmasterpiece - ‘Yugpurush– Mahatma keMahatma’ celebrated its 800th show this Independence Day. The playis an inspiring and riveting portrayal of the close association between Mahatma Gandhi and his spiritual mentor Shrimad Rajchandraji, and has been produced by Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur.

Gandhiji met Shrimadji for the first time in Mumbai, upon his return from England as a barrister in 1891. Shrimadji’s inner equipoise, knowledge of the scriptures and enlightening wisdom left a deep-rooted impression on Gandhiji, who soon proclaimed Shrimadji as his spiritual mentor. Shrimadji’s inherent adherence to the principles of satya, ahimsa and dharma soon crystallised as the fundamental tenets of Gandhism, forming the cornerstone of India’s freedom movement and soon resulting in India’sIndependence.

This Independence Day, renowned filmmaker Subhash Ghai’s ‘Whistling Woods International’ joined hands with Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampurto host the play for the film fraternity. Mr. Ghai staged the playespecially for the film and theatrecommunityas attribute tothe core values and philosophy of the nation –Indeed a fitting way to celebrate this special day, reminiscing the values that form the bedrock of our culture and that gained usindependence.

Several dignitaries from the film and theatre industry attended the event and expressedimmenseawe and applause towardsthe play. In addition to the students from Whistling Woods international, the show also saw attendance of students from various institutions. The young audience was deeply moved by the heart-touching message of the play.

Another highlight was that this special show celebrated the World Organ Donation Day where Mr. Ghai along with the team ‘Yugpurush’ and Shrimad Rajchandra Organ Donation Programme created awareness about importance of Organ Donation on this occasion and inspired those present to take the Organ donation pledge.

Mr. Ghaicongratulated Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur for the production of ‘Yugpurush’ which brings to the forefront a powerful experience of looking within and transforming character. He congratulated Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshbhai, founder of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur for envisioning such a wonderful play.

Mr. Ghaialso felicitated renowned playwright Mr. UttamGada who has scripted the play, the acclaimed director Mr. Rajesh Joshi- director of the play and popular composer duo Sachin-Jigar, the music directors of the play for their exceptional contribution towards making ‘Yugpurush’. The lead cast of Yugpurush- Parthsarthi Vaidya, who plays Shrimad Rajchandraji, Nilesh Patel- who plays Mahatma Gandhi and Pulkit Solanki who plays young Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, were also felicitated for their stellar performances in the play.

‘Yugpurush’ has taken cities across the globe by storm reaching its 800th show markin a short span of 275 days, running to full houses and standing ovations andwatched by over 5,00,000 people around the world.

In addition to the Transmedia Gujarati Screen and Stage Awards received previously for the Best Drama, Best Director and Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Yugpurushwas recently bestowed with the prestigiousDadasahebPhalke Excellence Award 2017 for ‘Best Drama’!

It has been produced under the guidance of Shrimad Rajchandraji’s ardent devotee and the founder of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur, Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshbhaito celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Shrimad Rajchandraji.

Yugpurush is currently running in 7 languages-Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada. Bengali, Tamil and English.The play has already been touring across all parts of India as well as overseas in UK, USA, Canada and will soon be performed in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia, UAE, Oman, Kenya and South Africa, to name a few.

The play supports the cause of Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital – a new 200-bed multi-specialty charity hospital for the economically underprivileged in South Gujarat.

SRMD’s aim behind the yearlong celebration of Shrimad Rajchandraji’s 150th birth anniversary is to spread Shrimad Rajchandraji's spiritually uplifting teachings to the maximum number of people from all walks of life.
